- Alfred L. Laborde, MD, (’85) joins the Vascular Institute of San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas.
- Volker Neugebauer, MD, PhD, is named a Grover E. Murray Professor in the TTUHSC School of Medicine.
- Tochukwu Austine Noh, MD, receives the Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education by the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a resident physician at TTUHSC Odessa.
- Tejas Ozarkar, MD, (’13) is appointed to the Texas Medical Board District Two Review Committee by Gov. Greg Abbott.
- Maria “Masha” Lyuksyutova-Price, MD, (’19) joins Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Arizona as a medical staff member.
- Ariel Santos, MD, is inducted into the American College of Surgeons Academy of Master Surgeon Educators. He is the interim chair for the Department of Surgery in the TTUHSC School of Medicine.
- Khaled A. Sherif, MD, (Residency ’15) joins DHR Health Heart Institute in McAllen, Texas.
- Jeff Simmons, DMD, MD, (’02) joins U.S. Oral Surgery Management as one of its newest partner practices.
- Nick Souder, MD, (’05) joins Mountain Health in Mountain Home, Arkansas as part of its medical staff.
- Roger Sutton, PhD, receives the 2024 Jain Foundation Award for Research Contribution during the Dysferlin Conference in Houston, Texas. He is a professor in the TTUHSC School of Medicine.
- Luther “Dusty” Weathers, MD, (’86) joins Artesia General Hospital, in Artesia, New Mexico, as a new cardiologist.

- Sherry Luedtke, PharmD, receives the Jeffrey K. Low Service Award from the Pediatric Pharmacy Association. She is an associate professor of pharmacy practice in the TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy.

Melinda Corwin, PhD, SLP, receives a fellowship from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is a University Distinguished Professor in the School of Health Profession’s Center for Speech, Language and Hearing Research.
- Tobias A. Kroll, PhD, SLP, receives the 2024 International Literacy Association’s Elva Knight Research Grant for his study related to struggles for elementary aged readers. He is an associate professor in the TTUHSC School of Health Profession’s Center for Speech, Language and Hearing Research.
- Sue Ann S. Lee, PhD, SLP, receives a fellowship from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is a professor in the School of Health Professions’ Center for Speech, Language and Hearing Research.
- Tatum Moog receives a scholarship from Exxat for Scholarly Productivity. She is a second-year Physicians Assistant student.
- Dawndra Sechrist, OTR, PhD, (’94) is selected as a Distinguished Fellow of the Occupational Therapy Academy by the National Academies of Practice. She is the dean of the TTUHSC School of Health Professions.

Gerard Carrino, PhD, MPH is selected as part of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Leadership Abilene Class. He is the dean of the TTUHSC Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health.
Friends We’ll Miss
Stacee Minyard, OTR, (Health Professions ’92) died May 11, 2024. She was an occupational therapist with Johns Hopkins Home Care Group in Baltimore, Maryland.
- Robert Gross, MD, (Medicine ’81) died on July 11, 2024. He was a physician and municipal health officer in Amarillo and Canyon, Texas.
- Geraldine Ferrer died on July 22, 2024. She was a coordinator with the TTUHSC School of Nursing.
- Jerry H. Hodge died on July 25, 2024. He was a longtime philanthropist who played a key role in helping to establish the TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy.
- Robert Lawless, PhD, died on Aug. 10, 2024. He was the fourth president of TTUHSC and 11th president of Texas Tech University.
- Don Cash died on Aug. 25, 2024. He was a former board member for the Texas Tech Foundation, Ranching Heritage Association, and started the Don-Kay-Clay Cash Foundation.
- Janyce Branson died on Aug. 28, 2024. She was an associate administrator and lead coder for TTUHSC.
- Marcus Wilson died on Sept. 3, 2024. He worked for TTUHSC for 27 years and was most recently the managing director for Student Financial Aid.
- Carson Dickson (Nursing’21) died on Dec 8, 2024. She was a labor and delivery nurse at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas in Houston, Texas.
